Chin na

Master the art of joint locks and control
Shifu Shi Yan Xiu is a master practitioner in the technique of Chin Na, which controls or locks an opponent's joints or muscles/tendons so that they cannot move, thus neutralising the opponent's fighting ability.

Training methods for advanced chin na skills
Chin refers to the actions of seizing or trapping, while na signifies locking or breaking. Although these actions are often performed sequentially (trapping first, then locking), they can also occur separately in both training and self-defense scenarios. This means that a trap doesn’t always lead to a lock or break, and a lock or break isn't necessarily initiated by a trap. There is considerable overlap between chin na techniques and the principles of Tui Na, a branch of traditional Chinese medicine, as well as the inclusion of both offensive and defensive qigong as supplementary practices in certain styles of chin na training. The recent acknowledgment of grappling's significance alongside striking has prompted some Chinese martial arts instructors to refine their chin na techniques, even broadening the system by integrating or creating new methods. This variation is why chin na practices may differ from one school to another.
Ancient wisdom of balance and harmony in martial arts
Chin na emerges from the deep philosophical roots of Chinese martial traditions. It embodies the Shaolin principle of resolving conflict with minimal force, transforming defense into an art of precise human understanding.
